Mr. Zugenbuehler works closely with others, at schools and in the community, to provide good health care for all students. Mr. Z works half-time at Lincoln and half-time at Fulton Elementary. When he is not in the building our nurse paraeducator, Janelle Hess, is working at Lincoln. Along with distributing medication, our school nurse strives to provide:

• Assessment of physical, mental, psycho-social factors that affect a student's learning adjustment in school
• Promotion of healthy lifestyles tailored to the needs of the school population
• Screening programs (auditory, vision, height, weight)
• Management of illness and/or referral to other health professionals
• Monitoring of chronic disease
• Communicable disease control
• Immunization status verification
• Coordination of services when specialized care is required
• Health counseling and health guidance to staff members, students and their families
• Assistance in the development and presentation of health related curriculum subjects
• Acting as a resource in health education for teachers
• Identification of health and safety hazards in the school building and grounds

The school nurse can also provide information and applications for low or no-cost insurance coverage for children through the HAWK-I program.
